One of the challenges of planning a family trip is to find activities for everyone. Too much museums or monuments is not the favourite part for David, so I have to find something to compensate.
Este viaje a Praga llevaba esperando unos años en la lista de "must see" y por fin nos hemos escapado 6 días a la ciudad de las 100 torres.
This trip to Prague was in my "must see" list for ages, and finally we escaped for 6 days to the city of the 100 towers.
Lo primero, y como es tradición, comer en el McDonalds. No falla. Es lo mismo en cada uno de los países donde hemos estado y siempre hay uno cerca.
First things first, our tradition of eating at McDonalds. It is the same food in every Mc of the planet. And theres always one nearby.
Íbamos sin moneda local porque nos habían recomendado cambiar directamente en la ciudad en una agencia con buen cambio y sin comisiones, así que fuimos a cambiar lo justo para compras pequeñas en los mercadillos y el resto de gastos, a la tarjeta (ya nos daremos el susto el mes que viene) Esta es la oficina. https://www.exchange.cz/

Debían ser las 4 de la tarde y ya era de noche cuando nos fuimos de paseo por la ciudad vieja para ubicarnos.
It was 4 pm and dark night when we went for a walk through the old town.
Y si, hemos visto lo típico con tropecientos mil guiris más, pero lo que os voy a enseñar aquí son algunas joyas ocultas de la ciudad que no son tan "turísticas".
And yes, we have seen the "must see" and the typical highlights with thousand of other people, but what Im going to show you are some hidden gems that are not so "tourist"

El ascensor "paternoster", uno de los pocos que existen en el mundo. Aquí podéis ver el esquema de cómo funciona y un pequeño video de los e-kids subiendo. Hay que pillarle el tranquillo para subir y bajar a tiempo.

Cuando quisimos cruzar el puente de Carlos, caía agua a manta, pero nos dio igual. Encontramos la calle más estrecha de Praga, que regula su "tráfico" con un semáforo :)

De paseo por la ciudad, hay que ir mirando hacia arriba. Los edificios son preciosos, en todas las fachadas hay emblemas o pinturas o esculturas
Walking through the city, you must look up. All the buildings are beautiful, in every facade you can see blazons or drawings or sculptures.
Hicimos un tour privado por el barrio del castillo con Tereza. Una chica de allí, filóloga que nos dio una lección de historia durante el paseo por zonas de lo más pintorescas y en las que no había nadie. Un gustazo.
We did a private tour through the castel neighbourhood with Tereza, a local girl. Philologist. She gave us a history lesson while strolling by quaint and picturesque areas almost empty. A pleasure.
En el castillo, David se encontró con dos YouTubers a los que sigue su prima. Les paró para hacerse una foto y darle envidia a su prima. ¿Qué probabilidades había de que se encontraran?
In the castle, David meet a couple of YouTubers that are followed by his cousin. They took a picture together just to make her green eyed. What were the probabilities?
Más cosas "diferentes". Contacté con un fotógrafo local para que les diera a los chicos un taller de fotografía noctura. Encantador y muy profesional, les enseñó un montón de trucos con la cámara y lo pasaron en grande. Eso sí, un frío tremendo.
More "different" things to do. I contacted a local professional photographer to teach the kids a workshop about night and light painting photography. Very kind and professional, he taught them a lot of tricks to play with the camera. In the freezing cold....

Cómo no, y como va siendo tradición también, hicimos una escape room. Esta vez, la cámara de los alquimistas, en la que teníamos que encontrar la piedra filosofal. Muy divertida. Hicimos nuevo record en poco más de 40 min. Muy bien tematizada. Con puzzles y enigmas de nivel medio, y muy creativos, conseguimos escapar sin pedir pistas.
As usual, and becoming a new tradition, we played in a escape room. This time, "the alchemists chamber", in which we had to find the philosophers stone. We had so much fun. We broke our record and we did it in a bit more that 40 min. Very well themed. With puzzles not so difficult, not so easy, and very creative. We didnt need any hint.
Subimos en funicular a la colina Petrin, donde hay una "réplica" de la Torre Eiffel y un laberinto de espejos, que no vale la pena, salvo que vayas con niños pequeños. Lo que no quita para que hiciéramos el tonto un rato, claro.
We took the cable car to Petrin Hill, where theres a "copy" of the Eiffel Tower and a mirror maze, that its not worthy, unless you are with little children. However, we played a bit, of course.
Seguimos mirando hacia arriba en nuestros paseos para ver a la niña leyendo con un gorrión de papel, o a Kafka colgado de un edificio. Y nos asomamos a un tunel de libros en la biblioteca municipal.
We still looked up to find the "girl with paper swalow" or Kafka hanging on a building. We looked through a tunnel made of books.
Para poner el broche de oro al viaje, Marty y yo fuimos a la capilla de los espejos en la biblioteca Klementinum a escuchar un concierto de Navidad. Todo un lujo. La sala es una maravilla y uno de los órganos llegó a tocarlo Mozart. Para los que nos gusta la música clásica, es un lugar mágico.
The icing of the cake was a Christmas concert in the Klementinum Mirror Chapel. What a pleasure. The room is beautiful. Even one of the organs there was played by Mozart. For those who love the classical music, this is a magical place.
Y sí, vimos el reloj astronómico, paseamos por el puente de Carlos (y unos cuantos más), vimos las dancing houses, el barrio judío, el cementerio, las sinagogas, el castillo, la catedral de San Vito, el teatro nacional, la plaza de Wenceslao, un montón de iglesias, la torre de la pólvora, la ciudad nueva y la vieja, la Praga de Kafka, comimos klobasas, trdlo y vino caliente. No probé la cerveza, hacía tanto frío que no tenía ganas. Paseamos por unos cuantos mercadillos de Navidad, escuchamos a un par de coros cantar villancicos y sobre todo, disfrutamos los cuatro juntos. Ah! y cogimos "Pokemones" nuevos :)
And yes, we saw and listen to the astronomical clock, we walked by the Charles brige (and many more), we saw the dancing houses, the jewish quarter, the cemetery, the synagogues, the castle, the cathedral, the national theater, the Wenceslas square, lots of churches, the powder tower, the old and new town, the Prague of Kafka, we ate klobasas, trdlo and hot wine. I didnt taste the beer. It was very cold. We walk by lots of Christmas markets, we listened to a couple of choirs singing christmas carols and over all, we enjoyed our time together. Oh!, and we catched new Pokemon
Yo toqué la estatua de San Juan Nepomuceno en el puente de Carlos. Eso es que volveremos, ¿no?
I touched the statue of S. John of Nepomuk in Charles bridge. That means we will come back again, right?
